Dr. Jose Luis Espinoza, DDS is a General
Dentist that has concentrated and specialized his practice for 
Periodontics
and Dental Implants. The Dentist is one of a few dentists certified as
a Periodontist and an Implantologist in Nogales, Mexico.
Dr.
Espinoza graduated from The University Autonoma of Ciudad Juarez
School of Dentistry and then went on to earn
his Masters in Periodontology. The Doctor has continued his education
by being certified with the IMTEC Sendax mini implant system, the 3i NT dental implant system, the IMTEC ENDURE Internal and External Hex Implant system
and the Nobel Biocare Replacement system.

Dr. Espinoza keeps updated
in the latest technology and techniques in Periodontolgy and Dental
Implants as an active member of the Mexican Association of Periodontist
attending all International Congress (Association.) Currently the
doctor is working on his masters in Dental Implantology through
the Instituto de Tecnología Avanzada
(Advanced Technology Institute.)
This is the first masters program in Dental Implants, and Dr. Espinoza
will be one of the first in Nogales, Sonora and in Arizona to complete
the program. As noted above, the doctor has always been in the
forefront of his profession by participating in the available classes
and seminars, previously only provided by the industry leaders.
There are several ways I can describe
myself. Motivated, helpful, experienced and caring. I live in Arizona
In a quiet community called Rio Rico its located about 20 km
(12.2 Miles) from
the border. It is perfect for me because I am an active cyclist, every
morning I am able to ride my bike to work.
Living close to the border makes it easy for
me to meet people from all over the world I’ve had patients that
come from as far as Italy
and Panama
to
visit my office. I know the importance of being able to smile so
giving people that have problems with their smile a second chance is
very satisfying to me that’s why I became a Periodontist
and
Implantologist.
Practice:
The PERIOGROUP
practice has a highly trained staff of technicians and assistants that
makes your dental

very pleasant. The staff and the doctor all speak both English and
Spanish, which of course, make it much easier to understand your
treatment options.
The Dental
Office has 2 patient
treatment and/or examination rooms, 2 waiting rooms (one with a bilingual television,) restroom and reception/business office.
This office
is highly organized to provide high quality care in
to insure that you will be attended to as
quickly as
possible,
pride
themselves in not overbooking
and running an efficient office.
Dr.
Espinoza and his staff perform a skillful and comprehensive
examination to evaluate your needs and then to explain the options
that are available to you. The newest option, available since May
2008, is a bone graft regenerative process using the patient's own
stem cells from the iliac crest (hip bone.) The process adds about 10
minutes to the whole procedure and the results are phenomenal click here

Once the
doctor and patient have agreed upon the options, the doctor determines
the overall treatment plan and works with the patient to setup an
efficient and convenient schedule to insure that the process meets the
patients needs.
The office
is located in the Plaza Azteca which has
shops, a couple of fast food type restaurants, serving fish and Chinese
food, a quick mart and a
coffee cafe with coffee drinks, sandwiches and pastries.

What
is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums and/or bone that
surrounds the tooth. Generally the disease is painless, and most
patients are not aware they have a problem until examined by a
dentist.

Healthy
tooth and gums
|
With
a healthy tooth, the root is set in the jawbone with a strong
ligament, which keeps the tooth tightly attached to the bone. Gum
covers the bone, and like skin, protects it from bacteria that are
constantly present in the mouth. The gum connects to the neck of the
tooth with a band of fibers, which insert just above the bone into the
root. In a healthy situation, the gum edge is higher than the fiber
attachment, forming a space around the tooth. This is similar to
having a turtleneck sweater, and this sulcus
should be 2-3 millimeters in depth.

Gum
Recession
In health,
there are two types of gum tissues that surround the tooth. The part
that is around the neck of the tooth is firmly attached to the tooth
and underlying bone, and is called attached
gingiva. The
attached gingiva is immovable and tough, and deflects food as it hits
the gum. Below the attached gingiva is looser gum, or alveolar
mucosa.

Adequate attached (hard) gum to prevent
spontaneous recession.
No grafting needed.
|
This
tissue contains muscle, and is flexible to allow movement of the
cheeks and lips. The muscles in the alveolar
mucosa are
constantly contracting, which pulls on the bottom edge of the attached
gingiva. However, normally the attached gingiva is wide and strong
enough to act as a barrier, which prevents the gum from being pulled
down (receding).
