Dr. Gabriel Tardaguila graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Dentistry
in 1982. After getting some experience in General Dentistry, the doctor earned a post graduate degree in Periodontics from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon School of Dentistry in 1987.
Dr. Tardaguila continues his professional education with seminars and specialized dental courses for Periodontal and Implant Dentistry throughout Mexico and the USA, like the University of North Carolina, ITI World Symposium and the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education. The Doctor also belongs to many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, that help him build and expand his practice and expertise.
The doctor lives in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico with his lovely wife Veronica and their two
daughters; and their son. Away from his practice, Dr. Tardaguila is a car enthusiast. Currently he is involved in doing a complete restoration of a 1969 Ford Mustang, including a complete teardown and reassembly. Original parts from around the world, that he has found through extensive internet searches, will make it almost showroom new! Practice:
Started in 1987, The Tardaguila Periodontal Clinic, Nogales, Mexico, was recently remodeled and
modernized to accommodate the latest technology in
Periodontal and Implant Dentistry. Some of the new dental equipment that was added includes a new Digital X-Ray System, intraoral camera, computerized periodontal charting (Florida Probe) and a therapeutic laser.
The specialized dental equipment not only aids the clinic in determining your particular needs, but it shows you exactly what problems you have and it gives you the ability to make an informed decision as to what treatment you are going to have and the timing of it.
The Digital X-Ray System is the safest available to the patients and it allows the doctors to immediately show the patients potential problems and to aid in treatment understanding.
The Offices are spacious and designed to
treat one patient at a time with total focus on that patient. There is ample room in the upscale reception area for the patient's guests, but the schedule is normally set to minimize or eliminate patient waiting time. Unlike most US dental offices, the Tardaguila Periodontal Clinic values the patient's time and strives to meet the patient's appointment needs.

Computerized Periodontal Charting "Florida Probe"
Our office is equipped with a system called Florida Probe. It was developed at the University of Florida at Gainesville. Its initial purpose was to be used in research in the field of Periodontology (the study of gum tissue and surrounding structures and associated diseases). The Florida Probe System has proven to be a good system for detecting periodontal disease early, and allowing the patients to see the actual condition of their mouth in graphic form. Periodontal Disease is best treated in the early stages of the disease and the Florida Probe allows this diagnosis to be much more predictable.
We strive to have all new patients experience the Florida Probe and then periodically, as we feel necessary, for that patient's individuals needs. The advantages of the Florida Probe for the patients are an accurate diagnosis of the periodontal tissues (gums and surrounding structures), reproducible results using different examiners, the graphic report is easy to understand by the patient, you get a copy to take home to share with family members and results from one year to the next can be monitored to see if the periodontal health of the patient is changing over time. This is a great system to help the patient who is interested in having their teeth for a lifetime.

Why is Emdogain Gel used?
Periodontitis is a common disease. It is caused by bacteria (plaque) which collects between the teeth and gums. This bacteria causes infection which destroys the fibers that anchor your teeth to your jawbone. Once these fibers are gone, bone loss follows. Without fiber and bone, your teeth may become loose and may eventually be lost. Emdogain Gel is used to help rebuild the lost tissues. It may also be used to repair and cover exposed roots due to gum recession.

Osseous Surgery is designed to modify and reshape deformities in the alveolar bone surrounding the teeth. It is a common requirement in effective treatment of more involved periodontal diseases. In some instances, the bony support of the tooth assumes an unusual configuration as a result of uneven progression of the disease. When this occurs, modification of the altered bone support may be indicated.
Why do You Need Periodontal (Osseous) Surgery?
This surgical procedure is used by the Periodontist to smooth/correct defects and irregularities in the bone surrounding the diseased teeth with the ultimate goal of reducing or eliminating the periodontal pockets. Of course the areas to be treated are anesthetized with local anesthesia (Lidocaine or "Novocaine". Don’t let the word "surgery" scare you. Except in the most complex cases, it feels like a thorough cleaning.
